Dilip Mehta, a renowned Toronto-based filmmaker, produced a documentary based on Sunny Leone’s life. Dilip titled the documentary as Mostly Sunny and premiered it at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Sunny Leone is one hell of a woman and she has proved that time and again. A former Penthouse Pet who made a name for herself in the adult entertainment industry before appearing Bigg Boss and carving a niche for herself in Bollywood, Sunny’s career arc has been unconventional, to say the least. And now she has another addition to her repertoire, she is the subject of a documentary. Dilip Mehta has made a documentary on her life, screened at Toronto International Film Festival. The documentary is a candid look at the life of the actress, warts and all.

Sunny Leone may be the most searched in Google celeb in India and one of the most famous Indo-Canadians but the Indian community in her hometown, Sarnia in the Canadian province of Ontario, wants nothing to do with her. According to Dilip, she remains “ostracized” by Sarnia’s Indo-Canadian community. The film is called Mostly Sunny and was made after permission was given by Sunny and her husband Daniel Weber. In fact, Sunny also showed the team the familiar landmarks of her hometown but without interacting with anybody.

Dilip said he sent a team to the gurdwara she worshipped at when young but its management called the police. Even friends and relatives of her parents refused to discuss her.

A large part of their refusal stems from Sunny Leone’s choice of career. The actress is herself unapologetic about her past and has managed to shut up her detractors time and again.

The documentary also talks about how Sunny Leone was sent to a Khalsa camp as a child.

Dilip Mehta also talked about how Sunny Leone gave permission for the project and said that she is fine with the documentary not being a fluff piece. However, she was not there when the film was premiered in Toronto. News reports said that she and husband Daniel had prior commitments.
